Product Description
It's 2 toys in 1! As a sturdy, stable walker, the Step Start Walk 'n Ride toy helps babies learn to stand, take their first steps, and walk. As the grow older, it easily converts to a first ride-on toy! It has a locking mechanism that only parents can activate, so children can't change modes by themselves. Kids can explore the hands-on activities in both the walker and ride-on modes to see fascinating sights, hear silly sounds and touch interesting textures. Adult assembly required

Editorial Review
When little wobblers are bored with walls and sofa edges, and there's no one to offer a hand, they can two-foot it safely across that open ocean of living-room floor with the help of the Step Start walker. This dual-purpose toy acts as stable support as they learn to walk, then lets them roll along when they want to ride. Once they are secure on their legs, the walker converts easily to a first ride-on toy. (Only adults can operate the wheel-lock mechanism.) A flexible antenna, spinning drum, clicking gear, and other sight-touch-sound features provide sit-down play fun. Assembly requires a Phillips screwdriver. --Ava Natov

What We Think

Fun factor:
Durability:
Ease of assembly:
Educational factor:

The Good: 2-in-1 toy that helps your infant develop walking and balancing skills.

The Challenging: Wheels are not designed for extensive outdoor use.

In a Nutshell: A versatile walker/ride-on toy complete with fun, sensorial gadgets.

Push It, Ride It, Turn It, Spin It
The Step Start Walk 'n Ride is designed to help your child with many activities, including standing, walking, and riding. The Walk 'n Ride also gives your child plenty of sit-down play, with sight-touch-sound features such as the gear shifter, lifting hood, spinning drum, and clicking dial. The walker/rider is also outfitted with bright, fun colors and friendly, smiling characters that are sure to please your infant or toddler while using.

For parents, one of the best functions on this toy is its locking mechanism that changes the toy's mode from a walker to a ride-on toy. The lock cannot be undone by the child, and there is a distinct click that sounds when the lock is set in place.

While your child is using the walker/rider, be sure to keep them away from sloped driveways and hills. Though the wheels are made out of very thick plastic, they are designed for the slower movements of a young child on a level, steady surface.

A Great Walker and Rider for Beginners
This walker/rider is excellent for its versatility of options for your waddler's different stages of development. And while your child is learning important stability skills, he or she can also play with and look at the fun sensorial gadgets that are attached from top to bottom in bright, fluorescent colors. The fact that the Step Start Walk 'n Ride is two toys in one makes it an economical choice and prolongs the amount of time your child will still be excited to use it and benefit from its activities.

What's in the Box
Body, four wheels, front handle, rear handle, handle retainer, domed lid, dial, roller, spinner (two pieces), antenna, gear shift, four plain #6 screws, and one #6 screw with attached washer.

Great first rider with plenty of sensorial gadgets.

5 out of 5 stars They started walking the next day   August 24, 2010

I bought this cart for my twins after they played with a similar toy at a friend's party. At 14 months they were still not walking because, like most twins they were born premature. Ricky used it the most at the party and the next day he started walking on his own. When I saw the toy online, I immediately placed an order for him and his twin brother. When the toys arrived I took them to the park and Fabian didn't put it down. He walked the entire park with it and by the next day he began walking on his own. It was as if the cart showed them how to get the hang of walking. They had already developed the strenght, but they needed to figure out how to do it and the toy provided that help. I highly recommend this toy for late walkers.

5 out of 5 stars Son loves the toy attachements   August 16, 2010

My son loves the toys in the front of it so much he pushes it backwards. Also great b/c it grows with him, he already (at 9 mo.)loves to sit on the car even though he can't make it move. Assembly required but it is fairly easy.

5 out of 5 stars Cute, durable & inexpensive   August 16, 2010

I wanted a push toy that my 10 month old could push around since he was starting to take little baby steps on his own. He had a walker but I wanted something without the support that a walker offers. And I loved the idea of it converting into something he could ride for when he gets a little older. We've had it for about a month now & he plays with it daily. He hasn't really taken to the ride position as of yet. Oh & the only bad thing I would say is that the little red flip part of the toy which could be considered the "hood" of the toy when it's in the ride position, that lasted only a few minutes before my son immediately snatched it out & removed it. But that's not so much a reflection on the toy but rather how rough & curious my little guy is I guess. :)

4 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Walker/Rider   July 23, 2010

My daughter has loved this toy from when she was 5-6 months old. She would play with the knobs and everything on the toy when she couldn't ride/walk with it. Now she uses it to practice walking all around the house. She likes to sit on it but her feet don't reach the floor just yet for her to ride. I am sure she will take off on it once she can.

4 out of 5 stars Cute walker   July 7, 2010

This walker is very cute, easy to assemble, my child loves it, but it is much safer as a rider vs. a walker. It is very easy to convert to walker/sitter position but it easily seems to topple forward if a child is just learning to walk
